Modern Living: New Places to Live in Woodinville

For those familiar with downtown Woodinville, there hasn’t been many new apartments to rent.  There are a few newer shopping centers, but it has been years since Woodinville has had a new place for those looking for an apartment to rent. If you are one who likes the idea of renting a new apartment in downtown Woodinville, then you are in luck!  As of now, there are two major projects in the works bringing a mixed use of residential apartment units and retail. According to Amanda Almgren, Planning Manager of Development Services for the City of Woodinville, there will be another residential project breaking ground in the near future located along Woodinville Dr.

Community Room at Woodin Creek

The first project is Village Square, a $200,000,000 residential/commercial use community already underway and almost halfway through completion.  The Woodin Creek Apartment Homes is part of the Village Square community and according to communications specialist Casey Roberts, Village Square will be Weidener Apartment Homes’ largest community project in the state of Washington. Three of 8 building have already been built and the total number of residential units will exceed 700 upon completion. Occupancy is filling up as residents and businesses have already started moving in.  As of now, there will be a pizzeria nail salon, french bakery and a coffee lounge.

Roof Top Deck at Woodin Creek

The second project is the Civic Center and Schoolhouse Renovation project which just recently broke ground. This area is located on NE 175th St next door to the outdoor sports fields and City Hall.   The original 18,000 sf brick schoolhouse will be one of 2 buildings set aside for use by the YMCA.  According to Main Street Property Group and HAL Real Estate, there will be 261 residential apartment units, 30,000 sf of retail space and another 30,000 sf of landscaped grounds and walkways.

Civic Campus in the Schoolhouse District

Due to the size of the area being consumed, which includes City Hall, the sports fields, the Schoolhouse and the Civic Campus, the city of Woodinville has created a new district name and will be called the Schoolhouse District.  The current districts include Downtown, Hollywood, Warehouse and West Valley.  Completion of this project is targeted for the Summer of 2021.

Schoolhouse and Civic Campus

If you have been eyeing Woodinville as your next place to live, why not consider living in Woodin Creek, one of Woodinville’s newest communities.  If you can wait until 2021, the new Civic Campus in the new Schoolhouse District will certainly be worth checking out.  As more information becomes available, we will pass it on to you. And if you already live in the Woodin Creek apartment homes, please take the time to share your experience living there.
